Erika Ruiz from Compassion and Choices talks about end of life options

Compassion & Choices is a nonprofit committed to improving care and expanding choice at the end
of life. This presentation will cover:
 The full range of end-of-life care options, including
California’s End of Life Option Act, (in place since June
Eligibility requirements
How to access your rights under this law
Know your rights and options at the end of life. Be
empowered to make informed decisions around your end-oflife
care in a way that aligns with your values and priorities.
Erika Ruiz, California Public Outreach Manager for
Compassion & Choices, earned her BA in Sociology from CSU,
Fullerton. Her interest in advocating for and educating on
end of life care options stems from her experience of
watching her father suffer a difficult death in an ICU.
She started volunteering with Compassion & Choices during
the legislation of the End of Life Option Act and now educates
Californians on their full range of end of life care options.
When: Saturday, August 18, 2018
Where: Valle Verde. 900 Calle De Los Amigos, Santa Barbara, CA.
Parking: Please park at Veronica Springs Church, 949 Veronica Springs Road.
Free shuttle to and from meeting. No parking at Valle Verde (except for
handicapped parking)
Time: Doors open at 2.30 pm. Program begins promptly at 3.00 pm
Donation: $2 members, $5 non-members. Students with ID are free.
Optional Buffet Dinner: After the Meeting at Valle Verde, $25. Reservations
