"Media Ownership: Research & Regulation, And Why You Should Care", presented by UCSB Communications Professor Ronald E. Rice, followed by Q+A.

- Media technologies and telecommunications networks all interact and produce significant changes in each other.
Media industries, production, content, distribution, exhibition and use also affect these topics. Professor Rice will discuss these important concepts and you are encouraged to bring your questions about, for example, routine exclusion of humanist/atheist viewpoints from corporate media.
Dr. Rice received his B.A. in Literature from Columbia University, and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Communication Research from Stanford University. He is the Arthur N. Rupe Chair in the Social Effects of Mass Communication in the Department of Communication, and Co-Director of the Carsey-Wolf Center for Film, Television, and New Media, both at UCSB. He also took a Fulbright Award to Finland; is Professor of the School of Communication and Information at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore; and was a Department Chair at Rutgers University, New Jersey.
